An investigation is underway into the circumstances behind the death of a man who was being taken into custody by Casper Police. Around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday April 10th, officers were called to a home on Yucca Circle in response to a family fight call.

Investigators say while attempting to arrest a 47-year-old man at the scene, he resisted, but was eventually placed in handcuffs.

At that time, officers noticed the man had stopped breathing and began efforts to resuscitate him.

He later died at the hospital.

The Casper Police Department has requested the incident be investigated by the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, which is standard with any in-custody.

The officers involved in the call have been placed on paid administrative leave.

The man’s name, and other details about the incident have not been released.
