I've always been a fan of "If God wanted me to walk, he wouldn't have given me a car!"

Now I'm overweight and out of shape. Maybe I should change my mantra...

If you're looking for a way to enjoy the summer weather, while getting some exercise and fresh air, then these community walks may be exactly what the doctor ordered - both literally and figuratively.

The City of Casper will be hosting a community walk/bike/skate/run along the Platte River Parkway next Monday, June 23rd, a 6pm. The free event will begin at Morad Park and wrap up at First Street Park in Mills.

The city will provide free refreshments, as well as CATC shuttle service to and from parking areas. The 2 mile walk will continue every Monday through the end of July, and each week will have a different starting point. By the end of the program, participants will have had an opportunity to walk the entire length of the Casper Rails To Trails and Platte River Parkway.

These walks are open to anybody who wants to enjoy the fresh air, regardless of how fast or slow you may be. All non-motorized vehicles (bikes, skateboards, wheelchairs, etc) are also welcome to partake, and strider bikes will be available for children 60 pounds or less.

For more information, call the Casper Recreation Division at 307-235-8383.
