Yellowstone National Park is a place where unexpected things can and do happen. Today was one of those days as the USGS has confirmed a hydrothermal explosion happened in the park and video shows the moment it happened.

Vlada March shared this harrowing video on Facebook today showing the Biscuit Basin area of the park visitors were rattled by a sudden hydrothermal explosion.

The USGS responded this past hour and confirmed the explosion and explained what occurred. They confirm that there appear to be no injuries to visitors at this time.

A geologist on YouTube added commentary about the hydrothermal eruption and explained that this does not mean the Yellowstone super-volcano is suddenly becoming more active.

As this is a developing story, it will be updated once new information is provided.
