A post warning people about a supposed serial killer which has been seen on social media across Wyoming is a fake, according to the Uinta County Sheriff's Office and the fact-checking website Snopes.

The post is known to have appeared on Cheyenne-area Facebook pages as well as on social media around the Cowboy State and in other areas of the country. The post warns people about a supposed serial killer named Robert Thibodeau who is supposedly going door-to-door posing as a homeless person. According to the post, he pretends to ask for help. Some versions of the post have him attacking someone with a knife and/or stealing a car.
