In addition to allegedly bragging about how amazing he is, Leonardo DiCaprio is using his break from acting for good and not evil: to save animals being harvested for their parts. Specifically, rhinos and tigers and elephants (oh my!) by partnering with the World Wildlife Federation for its Hands Off My Parts campaign.

And really, if anyone's going to be involved in an initiative called Hands Off My Parts, it should be Leo DiCaprio.

He sent out an email urging people to join the campaign and also signed a global petition being sent to Thailand's Prime Minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, asking for an end to the ivory trade there.

As Leo's e-mail states:

"Illegal wildlife trade is the most urgent threat facing species like tigers, rhinos and elephants. These animals are being killed every day to feed an escalating demand for their body parts. Whole populations are at risk of being wiped out if we don't take immediate action to shut down this illicit trade. As a key step, I am joining WWF and others calling on Thailand's government to show leadership on elephant conservation by shutting down its ivory market before the country hosts a meeting of 177 nations on wildlife trade in March 2013."

By joining the initiative, DiCaprio finds himself in league with other celebrity supporters including Emily VanCamp, Josh Bowman, Stacy Keibler, Alyssa Milano, Ian Somerhalder and Ethan Suplee. Some of whom have names we actually recognize.

Being animal lovers ourselves, we wish Leo all the best in his philanthropic endeavors. All in all, this sounds like a much better cause than his current charitable work in which he's clearly saving the world's supermodels from an abject life of loneliness.
