A Casper man has been charged with threatening people with a gun at a bar early Saturday morning, according to court records.

John Knox, 29, was arrested after people at Rack's Gentlemen's Club called the Natrona County Sheriff's Office to report he had been involved in a fight inside the bar, was ejected from the building, and returned with a handgun.

Tuesday, Knox heard the charge of possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent during his initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court.

Circuit Court Judge Michael Huber set his bond at $25,000, in part because he was out on bond for a previous charge of aggravated assault.

After waiving his Miranda rights, Knox told sheriff's deputies that he was at the bar for a birthday party, but his friends never arrived, according to court records. He had a drink, got into an argument and then a fight, and the bouncers kicked him out. Knox said he went to his vehicle to get a crowbar, but realized he didn't have his vehicle and hence, no crowbar. He then sat in the passenger seat of a car and the driver gave him a ride.

He denied having a gun, and what people told deputies was hearsay.

But two bouncers and two witnesses to the fight said they saw Knox leave the bar, get a black handgun from a vehicle, load the gun and walk to the front door. A bouncer locked the front door and pushed patrons away from the front door.

One of the witnesses believed Knox wanted to kill someone.

Knox will have a preliminary hearing within a few weeks to determine whether the case should be bound over to district court for trial.
