Record Setting High Temps Across Wyoming

Over the last couple of days record setting high temperatures have been abundant across Wyoming.

On Sunday, June 24th,  A record 105 degrees was recorded in Worland, breaking the old record of 102 degrees set in 1974 and 1988. Riverton tied their record for the day, 101 degrees, tying that record setting high from 1990. And of note, Casper achieved 100 degrees on the thermometer, just short of a record high, but this was the first triple digit day in 3 years.

The highest temperatures recorded across Wyoming on June 24, 2012 were 108 at a Department of Transportation automated observation site along Interstate 90 in far eastern Johnson County, and 107 at a Cooperative Observer site 4 miles southeast of Gillette.

Just yesterday,  Rock Springs came in with a record high temperature of 93 degrees, beating the old record by 1, which was set in 1988 and 2002. For the second day in a row, Casper hit 100 degrees and that was enough to beat the old record of 98 degrees set in 1990.

Records have been kept across the state, in some areas since 1892, however Casper has only been keeping records since 1939 and Worland since 1960.

The highest temperature ever recorded in Wyoming was 115 at Basin on August 7, 1983.
