Law enforcement in the Sheridan area arrested an armed man who allegedly led officers on a chase and initially refused to give himself up.

Jack G. Fleenor, 39, was booked into jail on recommended charges of aggravated assault, interference and attempting to elude, according to a statement from the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office initially responded to an address in Ranchester at roughly 12:30 p.m. Wednesday for a reported domestic dispute. After investigating, deputies told local law enforcement to search for a man driving a black car with Utah license plates.

Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers found the vehicle on I-90, and a chase ensued near Sheridan. Sheridan Police officers assisted troopers and deputies in trying to stop Fleenor and keep him away from populated areas.

Fleenor, who authorities "knew to be armed," eventually stopped near exit 33 on I-90. A Sheridan police lieutenant played a significant role in negotiating Fleenor's surrender.

Sheridan County Sheriff Allen J. Thompson, in a post on his agency's Facebook page, thanked the cooperating law enforcement agencies including the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

"Without that cooperation, we would not be successful in our service to the county," Thompson said.
