The DUIs were among 270 traffic stops, and law enforcement also wrote 35 speeding tickets and made a total of 33 arrests, including two for controlled substances.
They intend to reduce fatal crashes through enforcement of impaired driving and seatbelt laws, and a media campaign emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance.
Assistant District Attorney Dan Itzen said the incident in August 2013 sent the boy to a Denver hospital where he was in a coma for five days and had extensive surgery.
