Back in 1962 floodwaters filled downtown Casper Wyoming to the point that a couple of young men were able to float through the middle of town on a blowup raft.
One resident told Townsquare Media that her family is "devastated and scared." She says they are saddened that they "haven't had much help from the city."
One area resident told Townsquare Media that the damage to her family's home has been estimated at $80,000, and she says their insurance won't cover the cost of the damage.
State preparedness activities have included filling sandbags, shoring up dikes, and the updating of some county websites with additional information and resources.
"We're all a little nervous about flooding right now, and the best way to keep our stormwater system running properly is by keepig our gutters open and free from litter, debris, and heavy dirt collection" wrote the City of Casper.
