Every single human being with access to a movie theater saw Jurassic World this summer, making it the highest grossing film of all time not directed by James Cameron (aka, the third highest grossing film of all time). A sequel was inevitable. But how about a trilogy? Because director Colin Trevorrow says that he always had a three-movie arc in mind. Now, $1.6 billion later, he’s able to start talking about it like a real thing that will actually happen and not some crazy plan.

Sequels, like evolution, are inevitable. Like genetically-modified dinosaurs, they cannot be stopped. When Jurassic World becomes the third highest-grossing movie of all time (not this year, not this decade; ever) you could bet your dino DNA that Universal was going to make another one. And now it’s official: an as-yet untitled Jurassic World sequel is coming to theater on June 22, 2018.

While it took over 10 years to get a fourth Jurassic Park movie made, Chris Pratt somehow knew he’d be the one to star in it. In a 2010 behind the scenes video for Season 2 of Parks and Recreation, Pratt joked about getting a text message from Steven Spielberg asking him to star in Jurassic Park 4. Chris Pratt, now potentially Hollywood’s biggest star after Jurassic World became the fastest film ever to gross $400 million, has a history of making kids happy. Earlier this year, he and fellow Marvel-ite Chris Evans appeared, in character as Star-Lord and Captain America, at children’s hospitals in Boston and Seattle delivering toys and cheering up kids and parents alike. Hot off the success of Jurassic World, Pratt was back at it again this weekend, visiting Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and while there he showed off some of his raptor training skills he’s becoming well-known for.

When all you care about is money, bad things happen. That’s the message of Jurassic World, where greedy theme-park executives hoping to spike attendance engineer the “Indominus Rex,” a genetically-modified dinosaur that immediately turns on its creators and runs amok. Designed as a cautionary tale about the dangers of building a meaner, badder monster purely for the sake of profits, Jurassic World works equally well as a cautionary tale about doing the same thing in movies. All of the rationalizations provided by Jurassic World’s employees — “Consumers want them bigger, louder, more teeth.” “Somebody’s gotta make sure this company has a future!” — could have been taken directly out of the mouths of the studio executives who approved this gene splice of a reboot and a sequel. Their creation — the Indominus or the movie, there’s basically no difference — is as advertised; huge, mean, and visually striking. But this experiment is not without consequences.

Something has survived ... and it’s been packaged, licensed and sold to an audience of millions! No, we’re not talking about the Jurassic Park franchise or the new Jurassic World trailer, but rather the dinosaurs on display in the film, who are the star attractions in a fully functioning prehistoric theme park where nothing ever goes wrong! Until it does. And when things go wrong at dinosaur theme parks, things go really wrong.

The first clip from Jurassic World has arrived and it showcases something much bigger and so much more unstoppable than any dinosaur. Yes, we’re talking about Chris Pratt, who became one of the biggest movie stars in the world overnight thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy. Despite those Jurassic World trailers that made him appear a little too wooden and glum, this clip is proof that Colin Trevorrow’s sequel will take full advantage of its leading man’s roguish charms.

“You just went and made a new dinosaur? Probably not a good idea.” And, there’s the ‘Jurassic Park 4’ trailer summed up for you in pretty much one exchange. While the previous ‘Jurassic Park’ films dealt with the folly of John Hammond’s original plans for the park, this new film imagines a world where Jurassic Park is now up and running. The kinks have been worked out. Raptors are trained. But, people are still people and that means they do really stupid things. Like create massive “hybrid” dinosaurs to goose attendance at their park.

Hold onto your butts (that joke never gets old. Never) because we've got the first poster for 'Jurassic World.' We know, the movie doesn't come out until 2015, but that isn't keeping us from being totally over the three prehistoric moons with excitement about this dang poster.

Little is known about the announced 'Jurassic Park 4,' other than that it will be called 'Jurassic World,' be directed by Colin Trevorrow and will be released on June 12, 2015. Casting for the next installment is kicking off, and 'The Help' and 'Twilight' star Bryce Dallas Howard is in early talks to be the first new addition to the cast.
