Sequel

In a development likely to give Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan some sense of relief, Universal has officially decided to shoot Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed back to back, giving its actors a chance to fulfill their commitments to the troubled franchise in one fell swoop. In addition, the studio has confirmed James Foley to direct both sequels, with author E.L. James’ husband Niall Leonard adapting both stories for the big screen.

Quite a few people spent St. Patrick's Day safely locked away at home. But if my social media account was correct, a large portion of those folks were eyes locked on the screen of their televisions watching Boondock Saints 1 & 2. So what of a third sequel?

Why didn’t ‘The Devil Wear Prada’ get a sequel? Even ‘Garfield’ got ‘A Tale of Two Kitties.’ And ‘Prada’ was a flat-out hit. It earned $326M worldwide (on a reported $35M budget). It nabbed Meryl Streep yet another Oscar nomination. And it elevated the already rising stars of both Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt. All of these factors should have led to a sequel.
