The Wyoming Cowboys won their first postseason championship since 1943 last Friday night with a victory over Coastal Carolina in Laramie.

The Pokes prevailed in a blowout, 83-59. Hayden Dalton produced his 12th double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Justin James added 17 points in the win.

James averaged over 17 points per game during the tournament and was honored as MVP.

There was plenty to celebrate after the victory. We captured some of the moments:

Head coach Allen Edwards also became the seventh coach in Division 1 history to win a postseason championship in his first season and as a first time head coach. He addressed the crowd after the initial celebration.

Then, it was time to ‘cut down the nets.’

Wyoming made 13 three-pointers in the win. They extended their school and Mountain West record for three’s in a single season to 369.

UW concluded their season at 23-15. They lose only two seniors, but will return 11 players off this season’s squad. They will add five new players. Two of those are transfers, in sophomore Brodricks Jones and junior Nyaires Redding. There are three high school players that signed last November. They are Anthony Mack from Blairstown, NJ, Hunter Maldonado from Colorado Springs and Hunter Thompson from Pine Bluffs, WY.
