2014 Golden Globes: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Asked Back to Host
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's success in hosting the 2013 Golden Globes this past January led to some fairly reaching rumors that the two would next be tapped for the Oscars, but at least one future ceremony has proven a no-brainer for the comedic duo. Sources report that Fey and Poehler have been "informally" invited back to host the 2014 ceremony, but will either return to the Golden Globe stage?
Deadline reports that neither Fey nor Poehler signed similar deals to Ricky Gervais, in that their 2013 stint hosting the 70th Annual Golden Globes wouldn't lock them in for any additional gigs. However, considering the rave reviews and near 20 million viewers the pair attracted to NBC, the network and Golden Globes producer Dick Clark Productions offered little hesitation in extending the general invitation to return.
Granted, no formal talks between either funnylady have taken place, and both would require a bit of juggling between Tina Fey's newfound producer's role, Amy Poehler's continued presence on 'Parks and Recreation,' and their movie careers. Fortunately for us, the limited preparations required for Golden Globes hosts (vs. 3 months for the Oscars) could again prove an attractive prospect for both ladies to return.
More official negotiations will likely take place in September and October, locking in a host by November, before nominations arrive in December.
