Authorities Identify Wyoming Man Who Died in Custody

The Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office has identified the man who died early Sunday after he was found unresponsive in his jail cell.

Zachary Colton Griffiths, 28, of Green River, died early Sunday after being taken to Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.

The sheriff's office previously said that Griffiths was arrested Saturday afternoon on a warrant for an alleged probation violation. He was booked into the Sweetwater County Detention Center.

During a routine cell check at roughly 2 a.m. Sunday, deputies found Griffiths unresponsive and tried to save his life while awaiting EMS personnel.

The sheriff's office has thus far declined to detail the nature of the medical emergency suffered by Griffiths.
