In a $1.89 billion deal, Black Hills Corp. has acquired SourceGas Holdings LLC.

Wyoming’s roughly 123,000 SourceGas customers will see no change in rates or billing schedules. The Black Hills Energy logo will appear alongside the SourceGas logo on bills and the new customer website, SourceGasIsBlackHills.com, beginning in March.

Black Hills Energy says in a press release that the former SourceGas will immediately begin operating under the Black Hills Energy name. Customers should continue to use SourceGas contacts and locations for bill payment, service questions, and emergencies.

The phone number for customer service and emergencies is still 800-563-0012.

“Black Hills Energy is excited to serve our new customers with safe, reliable energy and to maintain strong local ties that benefit the communities where we live and work,” says Shirley Welte, the new vice president of operations for Black Hills Energy’s Wyoming natural gas and electric utility operations.

Welte fills the vacancy left by Mark Stege, who was promoted to vice president of customer service for Black Hills Corp. based in Rapid City, S.D.

Black Hills Energy, whose utilities are subsidiaries of Black Hills Corp., now serves more than 1.2 million utility customers in almost 800 communities throughout eight states in the Rocky Mountains and Midcontinent.

The company announced in July 2015 it was the successful bidder to purchase SourceGas from funds managed by Alinda Capital Partners and GE Energy Financial Services.

The Wyoming Public Service Commission, along with utility commissions in Arkansas, Colorado and Nebraska, approved the purchase.

“Their approval allows us to make this transition as smooth as possible for our new customers and employees,” Welte says.

Black Hills Energy will use advertisements, bill inserts and newsletters to keep customers informed. For more information, visit SourceGasIsBlackHills.com.
