Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert File for Divorce
Country powerhouse couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have reportedly filed for divorce.
According to a report from TMZ, Blake filed the court documents some time ago in Oklahoma, and a judge is expected to officially end their marriage today (July 20). The couple reportedly signed a prenuptial agreement before they married, making things easier on both of them in regards to their finances. TMZ goes on to say that their properties will be split up between the two, with Blake taking their ranch in Oklahoma while Miranda will take their family home in Nashville.
The couple, who were married for four years after dating for six, confirmed the split to the AP earlier today, issuing a joint statement saying, "This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy heart that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real family, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
Rumors of divorce have plagued the couple for years now, but Blake and Miranda often addressed the rumors with humor. In one instance, Blake joked about tabloid rumors, saying (via The Huffington Post), "We're getting divorced, we're having a baby, there's all these things going on. The truth is, I've been drinking a lot and I don't remember what all has been happening in my life lately, so I pick up those magazines to find out what the real truth is."
The couple gifted Kelly Clarkson's daughter with a custom made guitar as recently as October 2014, and both attended the 2015 Grammy Awards together, so it's unclear as to when, exactly, they decided to end things.
