Fans of Eggo waffles are being asked to check their freezers for potentially contaminated boxes of waffles that might have been contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes.

The Kellogg company has issued a voluntary recall of approximately 10,000 cased of Kellogg's Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles.  No other Eggo products are included in this recall.

Listeria Monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children as well as elderly or frail persons with a weak immune system.

The company has received no reports of illness to date, but is taking this action as part of its commitment to the health and safety of the people who eat their foods.

The recall affects 25 states where the product was distributed including Wyoming.

The date code can be found on the side of the package.

The recall is a result of routine tests that the company conducts which identified the potential for contamination.  As soon as Kellogg learned of the potential concern, it moved to quickly identify any impacted foods and to resolve the issue.

The Kellogg company is asking people who purchased affected product to discard it and contact the company for a full refund.  Consumers can call 1-800-962-1413, Monday thru Friday 9am-6pm ET or go online to https://www.kellogs.com/en_US/contact-us.html.
