Thousands of elves went on strike this morning at Santa's North Pole workshop. The protesters held signs reading "Elf Lives Matter" while demanded shorter working hours and higher wages.

Many of the striking elves also accused their boss of showing favoritism to the local reindeer. Others complained about round-the-clock work schedules during the holiday season and unsafe conditions in the factory.

A spokesman for Santa Claus has pleaded with to the elves to return in order to meet demand for the upcoming Christmas deliveries.

St. Nicholas and his family are also concerned that the protests may turn violent. A temporary curfew will be in effect through the remainder of the weekend while the parties attempt to work out a settlement.
