With the recent news of an accident that took a cyclist's life here in Casper, there is an almost profound awareness now of everybody on two wheels. While before they were just a part of the scenery as you drove down the road, they now become a point of emphasis when behind the wheel, as nobody wants to see an accident like that again in our small town.

That emphasis will be even more prevalent as a group of 19 cyclists roll through town in the 18th in an effort to raise money and awareness for a great cause. Read the press release below, and make sure you're constantly aware of your surroundings when you're behind the wheel:

CASPER, Wyo. (June 4, 2014) - On June 18 & 19, a group of fraternity men will be in Casper as a stop on the journey of their lives. This group of 19 cyclists and 8 crew members are participating in Push America’s Journey of Hope, a 4,200-mile cycling event across the country. From Seattle to Washington D.C., these men will be cycling to raise funds and awareness for people with disabilities.

The Journey of Hope team consists of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity men from across the country. The team will cycle an average of 75 miles per day ending at the National Capitol on August 2. Every cyclist commits to raising a minimum of $5,500 on behalf of people with disabilities in hopes to enhance their quality of life.

On the 18th the team will have dinner and a Friendship Visit with NOWCAP Services, 345 N Walsh Dr, Casper, at 5:00 p.m. On the 19th the team will meet with the Arc of Natrona, Riverview Park 1032 E L St, Casper, for dinner and a Friendship Visit at 4:00 p.m.

Push America’s mission is building leaders of tomorrow by serving people with disabilities today. Push America organizes Journey of Hope each summer, along with other events, in order to promote and raise funds. It is the national philanthropy of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity who founded the organization in 1977 to commit themselves to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities.
