Piers Morgan, out. Howard Stern, in. National radio host Stern has been hired to replace Morgan as a judge on NBC’s ‘America’s Got Talent.’ Stern, known for his frank commentary (and dedicated viewing) of music competition shows on his Sirius XM morning radio show, has long been suggested as a possible judge for ‘American Idol‘ and ‘America’s Got Talent.’ But nothing ever came to fruition…until now.

Stern confirmed the news on his show this morning. Multiple sources report that the production is moving from Los Angeles to New York City, which is Stern’s home base. Additionally, it has been reported that Stern is getting $15 million for each season. Guess the producers really wanted Stern to sit on the judge’s panel if they brought the whole shebang (including that hefty paycheck) to him!

Despite Stern’s image as a shock jock obsessed with lesbians, he is actually a terrific judge of talent and offers very informed opinions of the talent shows he watches.

“Howard Stern’s larger-than-life personality will bring a thrilling new dynamic to ‘America’s Got Talent’ starting this summer,” explained NBC alternative programming head Paul Telegdy. “He’s a proven innovator and his track record in broadcasting is truly remarkable. Howard is very passionate about this show and is fully committed to its future success.”

All the more reason to watch ‘America’s Got Talent.’
