A Big Hollywood Star Is Actually A Hero In Wyoming
He's been in the movie industry since the 1960s and spends lots of time in Wyoming.
For many, he's been a hero since childhood because of his famous roles in movies like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Patriot Games, The Fugitive, and Air Force One.
Maybe you know him as Jacob Dutton from the Taylor Sheridan series 1923 or the new Apple TV series Shrinking.
Harrison Ford.
That's right. Han Solo owns and lives on an 800-acre ranch in Jackson Hole. He has owned the ranch since the 1980s and spends his time there when he's not filming a movie or TV show.
It's cool that Indiana Jones is a Wyomingite at heart. He lives by the Wyoming code and, like other Wyomingites, is always ready to help others.
Harrison is an accomplished pilot who owns many aircraft and is willing to offer his services when the opportunity arises.
Over the last 25 years, he's jumped into action multiple times and played the superhero role, not on the big screen but in real life.
In 2000, a woman was hiking Table Mountain with friends when she was hit with altitude sickness and dehydration. The woman's friends called for help, and sure enough, Indiana Jones showed up in his Bell 407 helicopter to save the day.
Han Solo was again called to action the following year when a 13-year-old boy scout was lost in Yellowstone. To that kid's surprise, the helicopter pilot who landed to rescue him was the same guy he'd watched in the movies over the years.
