New Casper College Scholarship To Honor The Silver Fox
For almost 45 years, he called Casper home. You may not have known him personally, but you knew him. Bernard Ambrosino was the man behind the Silver Fox Steakhouse. He greeted every customer with a smile, a handshake, and a world-class meal.
Bernard was a great chef who, over the years, has given many people a chance to work alongside him, allowing them to learn from one of the best. The Casper community was shocked when Bernard passed away a couple of months ago, but because he was so beloved, Casper is stepping up to keep his legacy alive. Just because Bernard is gone doesn't mean people will miss the chance to enhance their careers because of him.
The Bernard Ambrosino Memorial Hospitality Scholarship was created at Casper College by a group of Bernard's family and friends to help students start careers in hospitality, tourism, or business.
As an executive chef and owner of the Silver Fox Restaurant in Casper, Wyoming, Bernard’s commitment to community was displayed through his genuine smile and acts of kindness to both staff and patrons. The food he prepared was second to none and the atmosphere of the restaurant was unbeatable, from the décor to the highly trained staff who treated you like family. This scholarship was established to help students pursue a career in the hospitality industry.
So far, the community has donated nearly $50,000 to the scholarship, which shows Bernard's impact. Starting the scholarship with that momentum is fantastic. Still, to add to the excitement, the State of Wyoming passed a bill in March appropriating $1 million of matching funds, meaning every dollar raised for the scholarship will be matched.
What a great way to keep his memory alive and allow others to create careers like Bernard's, which he spent so much time and effort doing.
