Big Plans For The Casper Ice Arena Include A Second Rink

It's been in the works for a while, and finally it's about to happen! The Casper Ice Arena is about to get another rink to help ease demand for ice time, and groundbreaking will happen in the summer of 2026.

You may be wondering why Casper needs another sheet of ice. Well, that's a good question, which the group Put Casper On Ice 2.0 has answered on their fundraising website. 

The current Ice Arena was built in 1986, and over the last 40 years, demand for ice time has increased, along with the popularity of activities like ice hockey and ice skating. According to the group, these high demands have increased the need for an additional ice rink to be built, giving more kids more opportunities on the ice.

The group says that limited ice time has led teams to practice later in the evening or earlier in the morning, causing families to travel out of town for practice and causing skaters, young and old, to compete for ice time.

The new facility looks to be a major addition to the current ice arena, adding a 45,000 sq. ft. building, a second sheet of ice, additional spectator seating, more bathrooms, a larger concessions area, upgraded locker rooms, a referee room, and a dryland training area.
