We're all looking for ways to save a little money when you're planning a vacation. So, anytime the word FREE comes up, your ears perk up, and your heart starts racing. Saving money in one area will allow you to splurge a little in other areas.

One big way to save money is to find free places to stay on your trip.

If you plan to take the family on a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park, you've probably been saving, researching, and preparing for some time. Some of the best research you'll find on the web is on Social Media.

Many families love sharing their experiences, money-saving tricks, and secrets for finding a free place to stay. I know you think it's not much of a secret if it's shared online, but it's out there, so why not take advantage of it?

The Travelin Thoms social media pages follow a couple who enjoys traveling across the country. They share their RV life, travel tips, and the best places they've experienced with their followers.

One of those tips and favorite places is just outside the gates of Yellowstone National Park. Just 45 minutes West of the West Gate, in Idaho, is a free area for dry camping. You can have an RV, travel trailer, or tent camp, but again, it's dry, so you'll have to carry in water and carry out everything you bring in for your stay.

The location is called Bootjack Dispersed Camping.

They use Campendium to find places to stay. The site provides information about spots to camp near National Parks, National Forests, State Parks, Free Camping areas, and RV Parks across the country.

Beau and Aero Adventures are other travelers who have shared their experiences at Bootjack. This YouTube video explains more about the Bootjack location.
