Wyoming's outdoor adventure lovers know there's plenty to choose from when it comes to getting outdoors and exploring. The State Park System is incredible here in the Cowboy State and is one of the options for getting out and getting some fresh air.

Each year, Wyoming State Parks offers 'first day' hikes on New Year's Day to help you get the year off on the right foot and let you see what's available for you. It's really a great way to find out what you've been missing, or rekindle your interest in hiking.

I think it's safe to say that people get very interested in getting out hiking, but a couple of factors keep them from maintaining the momentum.

1. Inspiration.

2. Knowing where to go.

3. Having someone to go with.

If you just shook your head in agreement, you're about to be inspired to go hiking with a built-in hiking partner. I know, that's exactly what you've been waiting for.

Glendo State Park is one of the ones that participates in the 'first day' hikes, and has another offering they're giving you to keep that hiking fire burning. The park has just announced the launch of a new Monthly Hiking Challenge.

What that means is that at least one time per month, you can go to Glendo, join a park ranger, and other hikers as they embark on a guided hike on one of the many trails in the park. On these hikes, you'll learn about the wildlife, ecology, and history while getting the exercise and inspiration you're looking for. These hikes could even help you find a hiking partner to broaden your hiking adventures with.

The hikes will vary in length, challenges, and difficulty levels, but if you complete them all, you'll win a reward. Not a bad way to be inspired, right?
