The old saying that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" goes back a long way. My grandpa got up, had coffee, and had a hearty breakfast every day. The menu mainly included eggs, meat, and toast or a biscuit. Sometimes, grandma would add biscuits and gravy to the mix to switch it up.

I'm pretty sure this is why breakfast is my favorite food at all times of the day—breakfast for breakfast, lunch, or bupper...breakfast for supper.

Breakfast, or breaking your fast, is the meal that typically ends your evening fast. For most people, the last meal of the day (supper or dinner) is usually between 5 and 7 p.m., meaning you're breaking that long fast when you wake up.

Over the years, breakfast food has remained pretty much the same. Early staples included eggs, pancakes, bread, or leftovers. As time passed, breakfast cereal was added to the mix as a quicker option for families in the mornings.

I get excited when I know I'll be heading out for a nice breakfast, so much so that I'll plan my options for the night before.

When you visit somewhere like Casper and have never been here, you may be drawn to the restaurants you're familiar with, such as a chain restaurant. Not that there's anything wrong with that...but Casper has some fantastic local restaurants serving a hearty, top-notch, great breakfast that my grandpa would love if he were still alive.
