I've enjoyed getting to know many veterans who call Wyoming home. Many weren't born in the Cowboy State but moved here after retiring from the service.

According to reports, 44,403 vets live here, putting Wyoming at #3 with 7,571 veterans per 100,000 people. This state is a good option for vets, with lots of open space, outdoor experiences, veteran organizations, no state income tax, and educational benefits, which are a few reasons a veteran may choose to live here.

With numbers like that, you'd think vets would own more businesses, but Wyoming is last in the nation with 824, and 5.3% of the state's businesses are veteran-owned.

It's Weird There Aren't More Of These In Wyoming

Most companies are in the Professional Services industry, offering legal services, accounting, consulting, engineering, security, and more. This shows that veterans will gravitate to businesses where they can use their skills to continue helping others and serving the community.

It's crucial to support Wyoming businesses, and it's a bonus to support veteran-owned businesses. Some informative websites and services, like Veteran Owned Business.com, can help you identify veteran-owned businesses. You can add your business to their directory for free if you're a veteran and business owner.

Some of my veteran friends have had trouble getting a job that understands the issues veterans can face. So, working for a veteran may be the best option. If you're a veteran and having trouble finding a job or you're looking for veterans to hire, the website also has a section called Jobs 4 Veterans.
