If you live in Casper, summer 2026 has been a summer of construction. Major projects are happening all around the area. I don't know about you, but there are so many going on that I forget when and where they're happening, and I had to quickly figure out an alternate plan to get where I'm going.

There's going to be another hitch in our driving giddy up on Monday evening, and the Poplar construction project is shutting down all traffic at the Poplar/ Collins intersection. Right now, you can't drive south on Poplar between Collins and CY, but from 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, you won't be able to drive east or west through that area.

During this closure, crews will be installing the new water main system. That means you'll need to plan ahead and choose a route that avoids the area.

If you're trying to get to CY east of Poplar, I suggest going to Ash and heading to CY that way.

If you're trying to get to CY West of Poplar, I would choose King Blvd.

There are plenty of businesses in the area of the closure, so if you're wondering how to access them, WYDOT recommends calling the business to ask about their plans for that time period.

I'm pretty sure this won't be the only time over the next couple of years that this construction area will mess with your routine, so now may be a good time to look into a new routine or route to ease the frustration.
