Trinkle Brass Works To Celebrate America In 5 Wyoming Towns
If you were to jump into a time machine and head back into the early days of radio, the music and entertainment you received was provided with the help of small orchestras. The same goes for early-stage entertainment. The orchestras were a huge part of maintaining momentum and audience attention.
Obviously, movie soundtracks are driven by orchestras. Think Star Wars, Superman, Indiana Jones, or E.T. If you were to play the theme to any of those movies, it's instantly recognizable because of the musicians who spent hour after hour practicing when they were young so that they could become part of the orchestra and make history.
Here in Wyoming, we have musicians who have given the same sort of ambition and determination to bring enjoyment to Wyomingites. Trinkle Brass Works has been entertaining since 1977, and continues to bring joy to audiences in 2026.
This summer, TBW will perform for free in five communities in Wyoming to honor America’s 250th birthday with a concert by Portable Masterpieces, a 9-musician salon orchestra from Casper, WY. The ensemble has toured vintage opera houses and theaters across the western United States and will perform a selection of American music from Bix Beiderbecke to Irving Berlin, and Woody Guthrie to Zez Confrey, with some expected patriotic favorites. “Celebrate America!” is part of the America250 project proposed by the federal government to recognize and celebrate the music, musicians, and composers of America.
The five lucky communities are:
- June 23 Worland - Washakie Museum
- June 24 Dubois - The Headwaters
- June 25 Lander - Covenant Presbyterian Church
- June 26 Sheridan - St. Peter's Episcopal Church
- June 27 Casper - Wheeler Concert Hall
All performances are free and on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, visit the Trinkle Brass Works website or Facebook page.
