David Street Station’s Final Week Of Outdoor Ice Skating
I sure didn't think that when we were gearing up for Halloween, and the talk of new ice chillers for David Street Station's outdoor ice rink was heating up, that we would actually be talking about the heat at the beginning of February. Sure enough, that's exactly what's happening.

Temperatures will be in the 60s over the next couple of days, and when they're that high, the ice chiller can't keep up. When that happens, the ice turns from a solid sheet to a slushy, unsafe mess. With that being said, David Street Station has decided to close the rink this weekend to ensure that no one gets hurt.
It's also hard to believe that next week will be the last week of ice skating before the chiller takes a break for the next few months. Kinda like Santa Claus, after a rough and busy season, the chiller needs a rest before next fall.
Since some skate days have been canceled, next week will be full of make-up skate days. We all know we can't rely on a week-old weather forecast, but at this point, it's looking like the last week of the rink could be one of the best. High temperatures in the low to mid 40s.
Here's a rundown of special skate days next week.
- Wednesday: Skate with the Casper Warbirds. The rink opens at 5, and the Warbirds will be on site at 5:30.
- Thursday: Free Skate Day, presented by Visit Casper. Rink opens at 5.
- Friday: Adult Glow Skate (18+) rink opens at 5
- Saturday: Galentines, Besties, and Bromance Skate 1 pm until 9 pm.
- Sunday: Last skate day of the season. 1 pm - 8 pm.
