During the late spring and summer in Wyoming, the lakes, rivers, ponds, creeks, and reservoirs are full of outdoor-loving Wyomingites fishing. If you're one of those folks, you should check out the Wyo Hunters & Fisherman 2024 Walleye League. Casper native Jay Fountain has run the league for the last couple of years and has shown signs of growth each year.

Jay has been a guest multiple times on Wyoming Hookin' & Huntin' Outdoors and is one of the first to help other people interested in hunting or fishing. One of the best parts of the Walleye League is that the kids aren't left out. They're encouraged to participate in weekly outings, kid prizes, and awards. On top of that, since school is still in session, league nights are from 5 pm to 9 pm to ensure the kids (and parents) aren't out too late on a school night.

The league concept is easy to grasp: Show up, fish, earn prize money and points, and have fun.

  • The league will run weekly from May 1 - August 14th (no league night week of July 4).
  • The championship will be two weeks, August 21 at Alcova & August 28 at Pathfinder.
  • Check-ins will begin at 4 pm, fishing will start at 5 pm, and fishing will be complete by 9 pm.

Fees:

  • $20 one-time boat registration
  • $15 per angler/ per week 13+
  • $5 per angler/ per week under 13

Optional side-pots

  • $20 Big Fish of the Night ($20 min per boat)
  • $10 Small Fish of the Night ($10 min per boat)
  • $20 Biggest Trash Fish of the Night ($20 min per boat)

All anglers must follow Wyoming Game and Fish Department rules, be licensed, and know all league rules.
