The  Wyoming Outdoor Recreation & Tourism Trust Fund was established by the State of Wyoming in 2023 to support the state's outdoor and tourism industry. Whether it's developing programs, helping with planning, or maintaining recreational infrastructure, if it enhances Wyoming's appeal and strengthens the industry, that's what the fund is designed to do. So, basically, if it's part of the outdoor or recreation industry, the state offers help to keep it running.

The trust fund is supported by biennial legislative appropriations from the Wyoming tourism reserve and projects account, which is funded through the statewide lodging tax. The fund may also receive direct legislative appropriations and may accept federal grants and other contributions, including grants, gifts, transfers, bequests, donations of money or personal property, and certain real property interests, as authorized by law.

To be eligible to receive the grant, your organization needs to fall under one of the following entities:

  • Government
  • Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribal Nations
  • Non-profit organizations.

The fund is designed to help communities enhance public access to outdoor recreation opportunities while strengthening Wyoming’s outdoor recreation and tourism economy. The tourism continues to grow, and communities need the tools to plan for safe and appealing experiences. This grant is intended to ensure communities receive the help they need to offer those unique experiences.

The grant application period is currently open and will remain open until April 11.  If your organization is seeking funding and you are an eligible entity, don't forget to fill out the application.
