You thought that because it's mid-October, things would slow down in Casper? Absolutely not.

I've said this a million times, but Casper is one of the busiest communities year-round. Whether it's a fundraiser, a kids' event, or a community fun day, there's always something to do.

On October 24, the YMCA of Natrona County is hosting a big day of fun that begins with the Jack O' Lantern Jog, featuring a 5K race and a 1-mile fun run. 5K registration is $50 for Y members and $65 for nonmembers. 1-mile fun run registration is $20 for members and $35 for nonmembers.

Grab your costume and run to help raise money for those affected by cancer through the YMCA's LIVESTRONG® program, which gives support, connection, and opportunities to rebuild strength and confidence while living with, through, or beyond cancer.

Healthy Living Coordinator Brooke Weber says the program has been a success so far and will continue with the community's support.

The Jack O’ Lantern Jog is an opportunity to have fun, get moving and come together for people in our community whose lives have been impacted by cancer. Every runner, volunteer and sponsor helps us continue offering  LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA at no cost to participants and reminds them that they have a community supporting them.

Immediately following the jog is the Free Pumpkin Plunge, which is a free community event that gives kids a chance to jump into the pool and dive for a pumpkin, pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, face painting, pumpkin bowling, coloring, crafts,
snacks, and more.

Since the event is exactly one week before Halloween, this is a great opportunity to get your family geared up for trick-or-treating. Senior Director of Aquatics Stephanie Clark-Sleep says this day is dedicated to community and fun.

The Pumpkin Plunge is about creating a fun, welcoming place where families can spend time together and connect with their community.

Whether you come to take the plunge, decorate a pumpkin, play games or simply enjoy the afternoon together, we want everyone to feel welcome at the Y.

If you're not up for a jog or a swim but want to volunteer, this could be right up your alley. To volunteer, sign up today HERE.

This fall, skip the grocery store bins and head to one of the local farms for a pumpkin that’s as fresh and unique as the season itself.
