Wife Horrified After Husband Spends Their Entire $18,000 Savings on Motorcycle for His ‘Mental Health’
A woman on Reddit was horrified after her husband spent their entire savings on a motorcycle.
"My husband has been really stressed from work for the past year. I’ve been supportive, encouraged him to take time off, go to therapy, whatever he needed. A few weeks ago he mentioned wanting a hobby to help him relax. I suggested something simple like fishing, golf, maybe even joining a gym," she began.
However, the woman was shocked when she came home one day and a brand new motorcycle was sitting in their driveway.
"He drained our entire savings account (around $18,000) to buy it, plus gear and insurance and didn’t say a word to me beforehand. We have two kids and were saving for a house upgrade," she lamented.
After confronting her husband about the purchase, the man claimed he did it for his "mental health" and that the bike was "saving his life."
"I told him I was pissed he made such a huge decision behind my back and I refuse to pay for anything related to the bike. He called me unsupportive and said I only care about money and not his well-being," the woman continued.
"Now he’s staying at his brother’s place and his brother texted me calling me cold and controlling. I love my husband but this feels like a huge betrayal of trust and just plain irresponsible," she concluded.

Users in the comments section sounded off, unanimously siding with the woman.
"Tell him he can keep his emotional support motorbike. You will keep the emotional support house," one person wrote.
"Retail therapy is great for my mental health, but I don't go blow the entire family savings account because I'm not selfish," another added.
"Move all your money and pay to an account that he cannot touch. Start taking anything that he transfers into the joint account and have him pay the bills so that you can save," someone else suggested.
"Your husband is having a midlife crisis, and is being a giant man baby. Tell him he can stay gone, because you're not interested in raising him any longer," another chimed in.
