Shared No. 1, New Teams, and Top-Five Movement Mark Latest WyoPreps Hoops Polls

The first new basketball rankings in the new year were released on Wednesday with the latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media Basketball Polls. These were the first rankings in two weeks. The girls’ polls featured three ties, which included a shared No. 1 in Class 2A, and two new teams. Sundance and Big Horn earned the same point total in the balloting for the top spot in 2A girls, despite both teams receiving fewer first-place votes than Tongue River. The rest of the top-ranked teams stayed the same, including Burlington, Cody, and Sheridan.

WYOPREPS COACHES AND MEDIA BASKETBALL POLLS 1-7-26

The new girls’ teams were Pine Bluffs in 2A and Laramie in 4A. The ties occurred in the top three classifications. The only division with no changes was Class 1A.

1 = Burlington

2 = Little Snake River

3 = Cokeville

4 = Southeast

5 = Upton

Class 2A:

T1 = Big Horn

T1 = Sundance

3 = Tongue River

4 = Wyoming Indian

5 = Pine Bluffs

Class 3A:

1 = Cody

2 = Lander

3 = Lovell

T4 = Douglas

T4 = Pinedale

Class 4A:

1 = Sheridan

2 = East

3 = Green River

4 = Star Valley

T5 = Thunder Basin

T5 = Laramie

Less Change in the Boys Rankings

The boys’ poll had one new team, and all four classes had movement within the top five. The biggest difference was that Rock Springs debuted in the 4A top five. Powell moved up two spots in 3A, and the other two classes had teams trade spots within the top five. The No. 1 teams remained Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Wyoming Indian, Lovell, and Sheridan.
