Trailblazer & Playmaker: Jensen and McFadden Named WyoPreps Athletes of the Week
A cross-country runner and a football quarterback have been selected as the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week. Following a difficult decision, Lander sophomore Dorothy Jensen and Cody junior Cache McFadden received the honor for their success last week on the trail and football field. Jensen dominated her race last Friday, and McFadden turned in an absolute eye-catching performance on the gridiron in his first career start. WyoPreps looked at performances from the competition week of September 2-6 and chose these two student-athletes. Previous weeks are not part of the decision.

Girls’ Winner
Jensen rolled to a victory at the Kelly Walsh Bear Trap Invitational on Casper Mountain last Friday. She ran the 5K course in 19:20.08. Jensen was the only girls’ runner with a time under 20 minutes at the event. How dominant was she? The margin of victory was one minute and 25 seconds. Lander coach Misty Atnip said after Jensen battled injuries last year, she spent the summer getting stronger, running, and attending camps. She is a great teammate, a hard worker, and always runs with a big smile. This was Jensen’s second win to begin the fall high school cross-country season.
WyoPreps spoke with Dorothy about her victory. She described the feeling she had after crossing the finish line victorious, how she felt she ran the race, what she did in the off-season to improve, how she’s been running since about the age of five, and more.

Boys’ Winner
McFadden burst onto the 3A football scene like a lightning rod last Friday night. In a 55-38 road win over No. 3 Riverton, the Broncs QB was a star. McFadden accounted for 408 yards of total offense. He ran for 167 yards and three touchdowns and added another 241 yards passing in his first career start at quarterback. The junior guided the No. 2 Cody offense to 679 yards of total offense in the game. Cache added 12 defensive points, which was second for the Broncs. He made six tackles and had one pass break-up. McFadden is tied for second in 11-man football in scoring after Week 1 of the 2025 season.
McFadden joined WyoPreps for a conversation about his play last Friday night at Riverton. He gave a lot of credit to his offensive line and said they were the key to their big plays on the ground. He reflected on the two long TD runs for Cody early in the game, his passing, his defensive play, and more.
Congratulations to Dorothy and Cache on being chosen as the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week!
