Cheyenne Police Department Mourns Passing Of ”Gentle Soul” K9 Tyler
The Cheyenne Police Department on Wednesday announced the death of the agency's first-ever female patrol-certified K9.
Tyler Was an Award-Winning Police Dog
According to a post on the CPD Facebook page Tyler, "partnered with Officer Lisa Koeppel, the team won top dog honors at the Wyoming Police Service Dog Association (WPSDA) annual certification in 2019 and 2022. Throughout her career, Tyler conducted over 400 drug searches and was responsible for the seizure of more than 1,300 pounds of illegal drugs, helping make our community safer.
“She was my ride-or-die partner, trusted teammate, and a member of our department family,” said Koeppel."
Tyler retired after six years of police work in 2025. The post does not name a cause of death.
“She was a gentle soul who had a knack for keeping those around her entertained, whether she was sneak-attacking food or wagging her little nub tail,” said Koeppel.''
Tyler and Koeppel were inseparable, and the post says the gentle K9 ''will be remembered always."
LOOK: These Photos Show Why ’70s Cars Were Something Special (and Obviously Better)
Big, bold, and built different — these ’70s cars looked and felt like nothing on the road today. Take a ride back and see them in their prime. [And we did our best to identify the models and dates, so if we got it wrong, gearheads, don’t come after us!]
