The Wyoming Highway Patrol says driver fatigue may have contributed to a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 80 that left one person dead and another injured.

The crash happened around 2:51 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, near mile marker 111, just east of Rock Springs.

According to a fatality crash summary, 59-year-old California resident Lance Tighe was behind the wheel of a westbound Toyota Tundra towing a trailer when he began to leave the interstate to the left, made a sharp turn to the right, and lost control.

A short moment later, Tighe reportedly made another sharp adjustment to the left, causing the pickup to spin off the interstate, where it rolled approximately twice before coming to rest on its right-hand side.

The Patrol says the trailer became detached and rolled down a hill before coming to a rest on it left-hand side.

Tighe was wearing his seat belt but, sadly, did not survive his injuries. His passenger was also reportedly injured, but the Patrol did not say to what extent.

Tighe is 52nd reported person to die on Wyoming's highways this year. Of those fatalities, 11 died in crashes on I-80.
