At the recent Montclair Film Festival fundraiser in New Jersey, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert took over a stage to exchange personal anecdotes and talk about their work togther on 'The Daily Show.'

And when Stewart was asked about his worst-ever guest, the comedian didn't hesitate, responding with an emphatic, "Hugh Grant."

Yes, that Hugh Grant -- the stammery rom-com actor. And for him to be dubbed the worst guest of all time is pretty bad considering, as Jon put it, "we've had dictators on the show."

The Englishman was so off-putting to Stewart that his first and only appearance was back in 2009 when he was promoting his train-wreck of a movie with Sarah Jessica Parker, 'Did You Hear About the Morgans?'

“He’s giving everyone s--- the whole time, and he’s a big pain in the ass,” Stewart said, recalling how Grant complained backstage about having better places to be.

If you go back and watch the episode in question, it's hard to tell there's any tension between the two men, but Stewart says Grant also bitched about the film clip shown during his appearance.

“What is that clip? It's a terrible clip," Grant complained to the staff, to which Stewart shot back, “Then make a better f---ing movie.”

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we love Jon Stewart.

He also discussed how his run on 'The Daily Show' almost never was -- he contemplated quitting early on because his new co-workers were “assholes.”

Stewart took over from host Craig Killborn in 1999 and wanted to take the show in a more satirical direction. That didn't go over well with the writing staff he inherited, and they told Stewart he wasn't allowed to “change the jokes or improvise.”

He immediately called his agent, begging, “Get me the f--- out of this. These people are insane.”

Thankfully, he stuck around. And we don't even want to imagine even an alternate universe in which he hadn't.
