After a string of bad publicity stories, Justin Bieber was once again making headlines for shocking behavior Thursday night. This time, however, it was because of his extremely generous act of goodwill that has people buzzing. TMZ reports that the teen heartthrob donated $545,000 for AIDS research at amfAR's 21st Cinema Against AIDS Gala.

The event, which was hosted by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, took place during the Cannes Film Festival in France and attracted Hollywood's elite, such as Sharon Stone, John Travolta, Leonardo DiCaprio and Heidi Klum.

A wealthy patron donated $545,000 to the foundation at the event and TMZ has learned that Bieber quietly offered to match that. This reportedly stunned the crowd and when Bieber was asked if he was sure, he said yes! At the end of the evening, $51 million dollars was raised in total towards funding AIDS research.

It's great to see Bieber making headlines for something other than getting in trouble. The 20-year-old pop star has been making waves for a wide range of incidents, including being accused of stealing a cell phone, fighting with the drummer of The Black Keys and getting written up for vandalizing a neighbor's house.
