A man was arrested in Casper after allegedly hitting someone so hard that the victim may lose his left eye.

Cory Campbell was arrested Sunday on recommended charges of aggravated assault and battery and breach of peace.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, police were called to an apartment building in the 300 block of South Grant Street. When police arrived, the victim, who uses a wheelchair, came out of his apartment. The victim's eye was swollen shut and he told police that it was the result of Campbell punching him.

Neighbors told police they could hear the incident from inside their apartments.

The victim told police that Campbell had come over to his apartment at about 8 p.m. Campbell was reported to be very drunk and the victim asked him to leave.

Angered by being asked to leave, Campbell began yelling and told the victim, "I'm going to kill you," and "kill everybody." The argument moved into the hallway where Campbell struck the victim in the face at least once.

A Casper medical doctor told police there was a high probability the victim would lose his left eye.

When police arrived, they found Campbell laying on the floor in the hallway.

Campbell was arrested and initially transported to the Natrona County Detention Center. However, detention center staff refused to accept him due to his level of intoxication, so he was taken to Wyoming Medical Center. On the way there, he vomited the back of a patrol car.

At the hospital, Campbell became combative with medical staff and police officers. He had to be placed in restraints and was given medication to calm down.

After he was medically cleared, Campbell was transported back to the Natrona County Detention Center.

Campbell was expected to make his initial court appearance Monday afternoon.
