If you spend any amount of time in the mountains of Wyoming, you always need to be aware of avalanche danger. Two Wyoming snowmobile riders learned that recently as they narrowly escaped an avalanche that caught them by surprise.

This is the video they captured of the avalanche as it happened near Afton, Wyoming.

The key thing to pay attention to is that it was a beautiful day. There was nothing to indicate that an avalanche was imminent. But, these guys came prepared anyway with shovels, beacons and radios. That definitely helped the second rider who did end up being partially buried by the snow.

The Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center is a good resource for Wyoming avalanche dangers. They have a handy map that shows recent avalanches in Wyoming along with future forecasts for areas to watch out for.
