Haunted Wyoming: Ghost Sightings in Laramie
Just in time for Halloween, here's another one of Wyoming's most haunted places. Laramie is home to thousands of college students, and according to some locals, the spirits of several ghosts.
Perhaps the most haunted building in Laramie is Knight Hall on the campus of the University of Wyoming. Reportedly built on the site of an old cemetery, several witnesses have reported hearing the sound of beating drums in the basement, wailing sounds on the second floor, seeing images of faces in the windows and encountering a young Native American girl who allegedly haunts the west wing. Others have noted an eerie feeling of being watched at night on the third floor.
Another local legend involves ghost sightings at the Laramie Plains Civic Center. Back in the late 1800's, violence erupted in the area when a group of citizens took on a gang of outlaws that had settled in the area. Rumor has it, some of the bodies were buried near the site of the old Laramie School, where the Civic Center stands today.
Several employees have reported seeing shadows dart around the building, hearing doors slam at night and the sound of Native American drums. There have also been reports of a man with a yellow shirt and black hair in the janitor's office, which some people believe is the ghost of a janitor who worked in the building back in the 1970's.
Another hotbed for paranormal activity in and around Laramie is the old University of Wyoming Lab School, which is allegedly visited by a group of men in top hats.
Perhaps the creepiest legend involves the old University Prep School, now known as Laramie High School, where many students reported a strange feeling that they weren't alone in the girl's bathroom on the second floor.
