Casper police continue to investigate a man who reportedly had a gun and walked halfway across central Casper before being apprehended on Wednesday afternoon.

"Casper Police Department officers responded to the area of Second and McKinley streets for a report of a man walking around with a gun who had allegedly said he was going to shoot somebody," Sgt. Mike Ogden said.

"We ended up catching the male at Taco John's on CY (Avenue)," Ogden said.

Police do not yet know who the suspect wanted to shoot, or why he was behaving the way he did, Ogden said.

Law enforcement and school authorities briefly locked down Natrona County High School, the Casper Clinic at South McKinley and Third streets, and Jefferson School, he said.

"The man was located and taken into custody," Ogden said.

The lone suspect, a white male in his mid-30s, was taken into custody without incident. His name has not been released and he has not been charged, Ogden said.

Thursday, police announced the man has not been charged and is no longer in custody.
