During my career in radio, I've gotten the chance to hang with quite a few artists/musicians. I'm not going to lie, it's pretty stinkin' cool! The interesting thing is that usually, you get to meet people when they're up and coming. That's how I met Cody Simpson... when he was just a wee Australian lad freshly transplanted in to the states, basically the Australian version of Justin Bieber BEFORE the bad boy antics, with an awesome accent.

Since then I've had the opportunity to hang with Cody several times, but the one that makes me think that we should support Cody Simpson in his quest for the mirror ball trophy is the first time we met. It was the Fall of 2010. Cody was just making a name for himself in the U.S. His record label reached out and asked if we'd like a station visit from Cody... Heck yes!

At that point we started planning. We thought, what if we took Cody to the local children's hospital? And that's exactly what we did. Cody must have been around 12 or 13 at the time and not only did he sing and hang with all of the kids in the common room of the hospital, he went and visited all of the kids who were restricted to their rooms. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty scary to go into hospital rooms with kids who had already been there a long time, hooked to a plethora of machines, including ventilators and full face masks.

Cody spent time with each and every child on that floor. Not only did he make them feel special, he didn't make them feel 'different.' I fell in love with Cody Simpson that day.

It was hard enough seeing children with such drastic health problems as an adult, so I truly don't know how Cody did it. Cody Simpson is a special young man... talented, humble and kind. I think he deserves to win the 'Mirror Ball' trophy this season on Dancing with the Stars. I promise you, Cody Simpson is the real deal. Will you vote with me?
