THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RIVERTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR THE LOWER ELEVATIONS OF NATRONA COUNTY... INCLUDING THE CITY OF CASPER...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 11 AM MST FRIDAY.

* TIMING...SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 20 TO 30 MPH BY 5 PM...25 TO 35 MPH BY 8 PM AND THEN TO 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 50 MPH BY 11 PM THIS EVENING. THESE WINDS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE REST OF THE NIGHT AND THROUGHOUT MUCH OF THE DAY FRIDAY.

HOWEVER...BY 11 AM FRIDAY LATE MORNING...THE TEMPERATURE WILL RISE ABOVE FREEZING WHICH WILL LESSEN THE AMOUNT OF BLOWING SNOW THAT WILL OCCUR AS THE SNOW BECOMES HEAVIER AND WETTER.

* MAIN IMPACT...VISIBILITY WILL OFTEN BE LOWERED TO LESS THAN A QUARTER OF A MILE AND OCCASIONALLY TO NEAR ZERO. SNOW DRIFTS OF A FEW FEET DEEP ARE EXPECTED TO FORM.

* OTHER IMPACTS...STRONG WINDS COULD MOVE VEHICLES SIDEWAYS ACROSS ANY ICE PATCHES IN POTENTIAL WHITE OUT CONDITIONS.
