Before we get started, I want you to know that I completely understand how cuckoo this all sounds...

Raise your hand if you sometimes doubt yourself. *raises hand* I'm right there with you. It can be tough to be #TeamMe when we live in a world that puts such an emphasis on picture-perfect social media profiles. I don't know about you, but I'm far from perfect. Sometimes it's this imperfect person I see in the mirror that keeps me from believing in... well... me! And that can leave me feeling very small. Like an ant.

But that tiny little ant is actually quite powerful.

Earlier this week, I was working in the yard and I noticed there were a few ants that had made their way up my shoe. While I thought I got them all off, there was one who was there to leave his mark. And boy, did he ever! Who knew one little ant could cause such damage? Three bites later, I had one swollen ankle. As I began slathering antibiotic cream over these big, red bumps I realized something...

This tiny ant had left quite an impact on something much bigger than himself.

I chuckled, but then heard a voice ask, "Why then do you think you are so small, Jess?" I stopped and dwelt on that question for a minute. I mean, think about the ratio between the ant and me. I'm a bazillion times his size and the odds are certainly in my favor to win this "battle." And yet, he still fought. He still made his presence know.

Now think about yourself.

How often do you sell yourself short or give up on something because you feel that you're too small? Your dreams, your relationships, your career, your health, your community... You can make such a huge impact on all of these things if you just believe in yourself. Fight for what's important to you. I can't guarantee what the outcome is going to be, but I can guarantee that it is so completely worth it.

And the next time you think you're too small for something... think again.
