Yep, you've probably seen these scooters all over and sometimes for an extended period of time. Seeing them you probably thought:

  • Not thought anything about it
  • Wondered where they all came from and why they aren't moving
  • Curious about riding them
  • Where you find the scooters
  • How much it costs

I've talked to a couple businesses about the scooters and one un-named business said

They're everywhere, in the grass, on the sidewalk or in the parking lot. We're not sure where they come from and wish someone would come get them.

When you go to bird.co you'll find out that Bird is encouraging clean, car-free alternatives. The goal of the company is to work with communities to cut down on traffic, pollution and work with the public transit system in towns and cities all over the world. The have a pretty good plan to help the environment, but what about the fact they're littered all over the city?

The way the scooters work in a particular city is:

  • A fleet manager maintains, picks up, charges and drops the scooters off at pick-up locations all over the city.
  • If you're interested in riding, you find a bird (using your Bird app). Scan the Bird's QR Code with the app and away you go.
  • When you're finished, park your scooter neatly and in a designated parking area keeping out of the way of other traffic (foot, bikes, cars)

The app, which is available on Apple or Android phones, is the easiest way to

  • locate the closest scooter
  • ride a scooter
  • make a complaint on a scooter rider
  • have the scooters picked up and removed from your property

If you're wondering about the price of riding a Bird Scooter in Casper. It's $1 to begin then $.39/per minute with a minimum $3.50 per ride.

If you're seeing these scooters around, keep an eye out and make sure you're being vigilant. If you're tired of them just hanging out on your property, get in contact with the company to have them removed via the app.
