You're at work and getting hungry. Just an hour break is all you're going to get.

You can grab a quick burger from your national chain restaurants. That's always convenient.

But there is just something special about going to a locally owned restaurant. There is a charm about the place that the big chain stores will never have.

For this list, we will only focus on small, charming, local "mom & pop" restaurants. Nothing high-end or big corporate.

Here are some of Casper Wyoming's favorite locally owned lunch stops.

Little Shop Of Burgers.

This creepy little horror-themed place serves more than just burgers, but they are most famous for that.

You'll love the quirky horror movie posters, dolls, lunch boxes, and movie memorabilia.

Go use their restrooms no matter if you need to or not. It will creep you out and make you laugh all at once.

Make sure to read their menu out loud. It's disturbingly funny.

Great Harvest Bread Company.

It's a national chain but locally owned.

They are primarily a bread bakery. But you'll love their sandwiches, soups, and salads.

Everything is freshly made on-site, including the bread. Nothing trucked in here!

What if you just want a hotdog or pizza? Maybe the best chocolate malt EVER?

The Railto Soda Fountain.

It's a small place located on the corner of Center and 2nd in downtown Casper Wyoming.

They sell treats and they are chock-full of charm.

They even have downtown outdoor seating so you can watch the world go by as you eat.

Would you like a cute family-run café with a choice of eating inside or out, right downtown?

Just a few steps away from The Railto on 2nd Street is The Wooden Derrick.

This place is as Wyoming's local town charm as it gets.

All of the food reads off the menu as if it is good old home cooking like mom would have made. It tastes that way too.

One of Casper's favorite Mom & Pop diners has to be...

Sherrie's Place.

Since we are sticking to hometown charm there is no better place than this.

Located walking distance from downtown on Yellowstone.

Sherrie's place is only open for breakfast and lunch.

Once again you can eat inside or out.

The menu is all home-cooked style and the waitress might just call you "honey."

It's like going home to have mom make you lunch.
